 HOW WAS MY ORGANIZATION SELECTED TO BE INVITED TO APPLY?

Committee Members within GW Students for Students found your organization through extensive online research using a protocol designed to help reach out to the most qualified candidates.

HOW IS THIS GRANT BEING FUNDED?

Our foundation was created within the Human Services & Social Justice Program at GWU in partnership with Learning by Giving Foundation as part of our senior capstone course.

Over the past 10 years, Learning by Giving Foundation (LxG)  and our Human Services Program has distributed grant funds to high-impact nonprofits, awarding over $62,000 grant to non-profits in the DMV. To learn more about LxG, you may visit their website at learningbygivingfoundation.org

WHAT IS THE LEARNING BY GIVING FOUNDATION?

The Learning By Giving Foundation (LBG), was founded by Doris Buffet to educate the next generation of philanthropists and distribute social capital to communities across the nation. LBG currently partners with 35 colleges and universities to teach effective giving and impact nonprofits in their individual communities. Some other partner institutions include Framingham State University, Elon University, Valparaiso University, Binghamton University, and the University of Louisiana Monroe. WHAT IS THE HUMAN SERVICES & SOCIAL JUSTICE PROGRAM?

The Human Services and Social Justice (HSSJ) program utilizes a unique combination of classroom and community service site learning. We focus on community engagement and learning tangible skills for serving clients, completing program evaluations, writing grants, developing interpersonal skills, and much more. WHICH REQUESTS ARE INELIGIBLE?

GW Students for Students in unable to accept applications for the following:

  • DCPS

  • Individual/Academic research

  • Scholarship Programs

  • Non 501(c)3 Organizations

WHEN WILL I FIND OUT ABOUT MY GRANT APPLICATION STATUS?

Our grant application closes on April 19th, 2019 at 11:59pm EST. We plan to evaluate applications and inform the organization of our final decision by May 10.

WHEN WILL FUNDS BE AVAILABLE?

Funds will be available within 30 days. Please keep that in mind for grant projects!
