GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES

THE GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS

GW Students for Students invites proposals from non-profit organizations working the DMV area for a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. We seek to fund programs for immigrant populations in the DMV focusing on educational achievement, extracurricular programming, and professional development. Grants requests are limited to a maximum of $8,000. This RFP is for one-time, short-term (one year, maximum) projects. Please review these guidelines carefully and submit your proposal is the requested format.

ELIGIBLE REQUESTS

Our grant supports initiatives in line with our mission. Projects must relate to one of our focus areas: Educational Achievement, Extracurricular Programming, or Professional Development.

EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT PROJECT EXAMPLES INCLUDE:

  • English Classes

  • Conversation Groups/ Book Groups

  • One on One Tutoring/ Small Group Tutoring

  • Citizenship test classe

  • GED classes

INELIGIBLE REQUESTS

  • DC Public Schools

  • Individual/Academic research

  • Scholarship Programs

  • Non 501(c)3 Organizations

THE GRANT REVIEW PROCESS

Application Contents

While there is no formal application form, we ask you for the following documents for submission in a single PDF document:

  1. Cover letter, on your organization’s stationery, signed by your director

  2. Executive Summary

    1. Name, title, telephone number, and email address of CEO or executive director of the NGO

    2. Name, title, telephone number, and email address of contact person for this proposal (if different)

    3. Tax ID Number

  3. Organization’s history, mission, goals, and key staff

  4. Narrative (no more than five pages) that includes:

    1. Project Description

    2. Brief statement of problem to be addressed

    3. Goals and objectives

    4. Target population

    5. Project activities

    6. Short bios of key personnel

    7. Plan for measuring project results (evaluation of the project)

    8. Conclusion (brief statement of long-term project plan)

  5. Budget Narrative

    1. Project Budget

    2. List other existing or potential funding sources for the project

    3. Include any in-kind contributions (i.e.donated goods, services, equipment, non-cash items, volunteer hours)

  6. Please include a copy of your most recent 990 form

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Grant Applications should be submitted via email to gwstudentsforstudents@gmail.com by April 19th, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.

Members within Team 3 will acknowledge your grant application within three days of its receipt. They will contact you if any questions arise or require additional information. If GW SfS is interested in funding your proposal, Team 3 will contact you to discuss your grant application within two weeks.
